The series is among the most-watched productions of the year in Taiwan. It portrays with unflinching clarity what has long been a taboo in the entertainment industry: a potential Chinese attack on Taiwan β with all its political, social, and human dimensions. Cyberattacks, disinformation, social tensions, military pressure: ZERO DAY ATTACK depicts a scenario that feels more realistic than many would like.
Yesterday, we had – as part of the Berlin Freedom Week Program – the pleasure of screening the first episode of the Taiwanese hit series ZERO DAY ATTACK β with a very special guest of honor: Taiwanβs former President Tsai Ing-wen, who welcomed the audience with an inspiring opening address. β¨
After the screening, our panelists discussed the geopolitical landscape, the role of media in times of crisis, and the importance of democratic resilience β for Taiwan, Europe, and all of us.
Dr. Marcus Faber, Chair of the DTG, summed it up:
β‘οΈ βThis series reminds us that freedom and democracy are never to be taken for granted. ZERO DAY ATTACK shows how vulnerable open societies can be β and why we must continue to visibly support Taiwan as a partner and friend.β
Robin Wagener MdB also shared his impressions:
β‘οΈ βThis looks like a great series, at least from what Iβve seen in the first episode. I would be very glad to watch the remaining episodes as well, and I hope a broadcaster will be bold enough to air it.β
We thank all our guests and our outstanding panel:
Robin Wagener MdB β’ Didi Kirsten Tatlow β’ Daryna Sterina β’ Lin Yu-Li
and our moderator Marcus Faber.
π¬ An evening of dialogue, understanding β and the defense of democracy.
